The UNC Curriculum in Environment and Ecology invites all faculty, postdocs, undergraduate, graduate, and professional students with research interests in ecology and the environment to present their work at this event. The 5th annual Environment & Ecology Student Symposium will happen on Friday, March 24, 2017 from 12:30pm until 5:30pm. The symposium will be located on UNC’s main Chapel Hill campus within Murray Hall (101 South Road, Chapel Hill, 27599) in seminar room G201. Registration is free and open until March 10, 2017. This inter-institutional function is designed to bring together social and natural scientists (students, post-docs and faculty) with a common interest in ecology and the environment. We welcome any student representing UNC, Duke, NCSU, or other institutions of higher learning to participate. This student-run event will consist of a series of short oral presentations on students’ research, followed by a question and answer period. The Symposium will also feature a poster session to further illustrate student research efforts. This Symposium provides a supportive atmosphere for students seeking to present their research and showcases the strength of student research on environmental topics to a wide audience, including UNC students and faculty, visiting students from nearby institutions and members of the local community.
We welcome any graduate, professional, undergraduate student or post-doc from any academic institution to apply, though due to the growth of demand for presentation slots, we do not guarantee that all applicants will be accepted to present. The event will be open to the public and will include catered hors d’oeuvres during the poster session.
